I have renamed this blog to reflect its new purpose.

So I guess I better briefly explain. My team & I needed a place to park different things that we use to demonstrate ideas when presenting 2.0 tools. And the participants in our classes and presentations often are so generous to share their creations so we can share their thoughts and ideas. A major theme of the 2.0 world…sharing!

Hence…this blog becomes the place to park these creations. And the first batch are from Animoto…those wonderful 30 second “music videos”…collections of images + music that are stirred just enough by the program! So look up towards the banner and click on the Animoto page.

Not sure right now what else might show up so keep watching!

If you would like to see what is on my mind, please go to A Library By Any Other Name or Lily Pad Playground ( a 23 Things actvitiy blog)

The nature of my work makes using another service the most logical for me at this moment.

I will return here “some day“…there are some things from this blog service that I like very much…the ability to add Pages is a very strong and important one and another is the support that you can get behind the scenes…someone actually answers my questions promptly..and quite often it is James himself!

So if you choose this as your place to blog…I hope you have as wonderful an experience as I did.

Every time I attend the yearly conference of TLA, I come back with huge amounts of information that I have to process and organize in my own mind, much less separate out the parts that I want to share with those in my circle of influence…or any one who will pay attention to my ramblings. And this year is not any different…maybe even more difficult simply because my choice of topics (Library 2.0) to concentrate on was thoroughly and completely covered by very qualified and top-notch speakers. So I am still working thru the pile of notes I have on that subject.

In reviewing my blogroll, I came across Cynthia Leitich Smith’s review of her time at TLA. It was interesting to read her account of the same event that I attended and go thru all of the book and author related findings she wrote about. She mentions her book Tantalize and how popular it must be in that it sold out at conference. She talks about the authors it was her pleasure to meet or renew old acquaintances with…the amusing story of being mistaken for another author and meeting Scott Westerfield, an author on the mind of at least one other person I know who attended.

That is one thing to say about attending the country’s largest state library conference…there is something for everyone, no matter your major interest or objective. And how great to have the blogging world to share in the various interpretations. It is almost like getting to do the conference more than once…and much easier on the feet!

This post which explains the purpose of this blog was originally created Thursday, November 23, 2006, but due to unfortunate technical difficulties had to be re-created here.

This blog has been two years in the making…in the making of my mind that is! I have wanted to do this for a long time and just would not commit. I have been reading blogs of various kinds for over two years and knew this was something I should practice, not just preach and promote.

I think it more than appropriate that I choose to get this site up and running over the Thanksgiving break as I have been reflecting lately on how thankful I am that I am in a position to know and understand this type of technology and all the other 21st century communication tools I have available to me.

So what should you expect to see here?
1. All kinds of school library related information. My work responsibilities include (but definitely are not limited to) working with educational subscription online resources and promoting their use by k-12 students, teachers, and librarians, locating and sharing appropriate websites for and with that same learning community, keeping up with the latest trends and titles in reading materials for k-12 students, and assisting the district librarians in maintaining their collection records.
2. Almost anything of interest I see out and about the various electronic venues I explore regularly. I am generally interested in many things historical—particularly of the United States, more particularly the State of Texas, and of the Western portion of the country in general. Because I have been dabbling in family genealogy for about five years now, you might run into some interesting finds from those explorations of mine as well.
3. And anything else that just interests me so much I want to share it!
